Across the road from Port Melbourne’s Smith reserve, sits Station Street Trading Co. Situated away from the busyness of popular cafe strip Bay Street, The Station (as it is referred to by the locals) is the perfect spot to settle down for a coffee, lazy breakfast or delicious lunch. With a choice of inside or alfresco dining, The Station allows for a family friendly atmosphere, including your pup! Their menu offers an appetising all day breakfast and lunch from 12-3pm, as well as their daily selection of delectable cakes, slices and pastries.
Breakfast Special…At the moment, I am loving their signature Bircher muesli with seasonal fruits and vanilla bean yoghurt. Plump apricots and sweet cranberries provide a tart contrast to the creamy, indulgent vanilla yoghurt. The mini bottle of milk is a cute accompaniment and upon request can be substituted with skinny or soy milk. The Station prides itself on using fresh, quality ingredients and presenting all dishes in a fun and thoughtful fresh, quality ingredients and presenting all dishes in a fun and thoughtful manner.
Coffee… The Station Street Trading Co is one of the few Cafes in Melbourne who use All Press coffee, which is made from top-quality Arabica beans sourced from small farms and estates that are sustainably managed. One of the main reasons, and for some of us the ONLY reason, to return to a cafe is the consistency of their coffee. I can confidently say that The Station delivers great coffee time and time again, regardless of the barista working that day. Even after I request my sometimes frowned upon order of an ‘extra hot’ late, I am returned with a smile and a cup of perfect temperature, creamy coffee.
Other Menu Favourites…

- ‘Big Dog’- scrambled eggs and bacon in a ciabatta roll w. house made BBQ or tomato relish
- ‘Station Street Stack’ – poached eggs, bacon, smashed avo, spinach, mushroom & beetroot relish on toast
- The ‘Raspberry Donut’ French toast w. vanilla mascarpone
