Love a lazy holiday as much as the next person, don’t get me wrong. But what I don’t love is returning home from an amazing getaway feeling sluggish and unhealthy. It is so important to remain active while on holidays! And I don’t mean spending hours running on the treadmill, don’t worry. Taking 20 minutes out of your day to fit in short, high-intensity workouts is actually really easy if you manage to drag yourself out of your villa (if you are in Bali, like I was!)
Maintaining an active lifestyle while away from home is important. Not only for keeping your weight under control, but also for relieving any stress that you’ve carried away from work or other stresses back at home, to boost your energy and increase body confidence!
The Daily Gym in Seminyak was the perfect location for me to go and smash out a quick circuit. If there isn’t a gym near you head to the beach, stay inside your hotel room/villa or go to a local park or oval. All you need is enough space to complete the following exercises.
Do three rounds of the following exercises, with a 30-second wait in between each:
- 1 20 Weighted Squats (you will need some handheld weights, a medicine ball or just
- use your body weight)
- 2 20 Standing lunges on each leg
- 4 20 push ups (on your toes or on your knees)
- 6 Hold a plank for one minute
If you do all of these exercises with maximum effort, you should feel your heart racing. If not- go harder! Feel free to increase the amount of reps for each exercise if you need. Apart from circuits like this, try to incorporate other activity into your itineraries such as long walks, swimming or bike riding. Remember, any activity is better than no activity at all!
Please also make sure you are drinking enough fresh water during the day to keep you hydrated and go easy on the sugary cocktails.
