One Month Of Green Smoothies, Only One Day Of Prep!

January 23, 2017

Summer weather means smoothie weather, but who has time to stand around every morning chopping up fruit and veggies?

If you’re anything like me, you look for the quickest way to get anything done. A great way to save time when smoothie making is to spend 1 hour each month (yep that’s right only one hour A MONTH) to prep all your smoothie ingredients for the next few weeks. Pick a recipe you like, buy the ingredients in bulk, come home and start chopping and packing. You can change up the recipe each month so that you don’t bored of drinking the same thing.

At the end of it all you’ll have 30 pre packed smoothie packs, eagerly awaiting to be blended. Clear some freezer space and get started…

This is a basic green smoothie recipe and is a good one to start with. This recipe makes 30 smoothie packs (1 smoothie pack serves one person)

What youll need:

30 medium sized zip lock bags

3 bags full of greens of your choice (cos lettuce, spinach, kale or mixed).

15 red apples

15 bananas

10 cucumbers

What to do:

  1. Cut apples into half. Then chop each half into smaller pieces adding each half to a bag.
  2. Cut bananas into halves. Then chop each half into smaller pieces adding each half to a bag.
  3. Cut cucumbers into thirds. Then chop each third into smaller pieces adding each third to a bag.
  4. Add a handful of chopped greens to each bag and then zip bag shut.
  5. Store in the freezer for up to 30 days.

In the morning add 1 cup of your liquid of choice (water/ coconut water/ nut milk), a sweetener (1 Medjool date or 1 tsp of raw honey), protein or super foods (if you want), blend away and you’re good to go.
