Mental Health Awareness Week

October 13, 2014

Last week across Australia the spotlight was on raising awareness for Mental Health issues. Often a taboo subject Mental Health affects one in four young Australians at least once every twelve months.

The government’s intention of Mental Health week is to encourage an emotional wellbeing within the community and to increase Mental Health recovery.

How can we help:

  • Let’s get talking!
  • Ask the people in our lives “Are you ok?”
  • Create an understanding that sometimes we are not ‘OK’.
  • Encourage our friends, family, colleagues and anyone else in our community to seek help if you feel they need it.

This is a very important issue for us here at twosixmag, Emma and I have both had our own challenges with mental health and we know just how important it is to be able to talk openly about our struggles.

If you need to talk to someone please call:

Lifeline 13 11 14

Kids Help line 1800 55 1800

Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636

The week may be over but our efforts shouldn’t stop there, the conversation must continue!

Love

Bree & Emma
