Local Love Ashley is the founder of Stoned Crystals- A fresh and modern take on crystals for the home and workspace. We are so thrilled to welcome Ashley and Stoned Crystals to the Twosixmag Community.
When and how did Stoned Crystals come about?
Over the past few years I have lent myself to the spiritual side and crystals were a natural progression from my love for yoga and meditation. Raised in the inner city suburbs of Melbourne and coming from a modern family and home I had never been exposed to crystal energy or healing. Crystals are not easily found in the common homewares shop and there are few crystal shops surviving the retail game. I felt like crystals had been so often been boxed in as ‘hippie’ and the jargon that surrounded them made them difficult to understand and undervalued by the mainstream.
What is unique about Stoned Crystals/What do you do?
Launching with a range of geometric shaped crystal homewares, Stoned provide a new and modern take on crystal healing that helps to create positive energies in oneself and Zen into the spaces around you. We would like to test the conventional use of crystals by making them more accessible and more fashionable to the everyday person.
When do you feel most balanced?
I definitely feel most balanced when I am traveling and amongst nature. I have a very busy mind and am always seeking visual stimulation and new adventures.
What about the look of the crystals appeals to you?
Shiny, glistening things and I have had a long time love affair. The way crystals catch the suns rays, reflecting light into living spaces is sublime. They are natural objects, made from nothing but pure organic mineral earth. This natural color and texture juxtaposed against their geometric shape is very mesmerizing. They tend to have that effect that makes you just want to pick them up and touch them! Stones look beautiful when styled minimally in the modern home and workspace.
Crystals emit steady vibrations that help to create Balance within oneself and Zen into the spaces around us. It is for this reason that for thousands of years crystals have been used for their powerful healing properties. At an atomic level, our universe is in a constant state of vibration. Crystals are extremely good at holding a stable vibration due to their crystalline lattice structure. We, on the other hand, are a very complex mix of vibrations that can easily be disturbed, become unbalanced which makes us sick and unwell. All kinds of things can affect our vibration, from external influences such as electromagnetic and geopathic stress to internal ones such as constant negative thought patterns and suppressing emotions.
Can you tell us which is your favourite stone, and why?
My absolute favourite would have to be Clear Quartz. Clear quartz is very versatile, refracts light to bounce beautiful rainbows off walls in the home and has incredible inclusions which are absolutely mesmerising to look at. With such a busy mind I find it helps to clear my mind, find some clarity and become more aware of the things I want to attract into my life.
Where is the best place to keep your Stoned Crystals?
I am a very tactile person and crystals are beautiful organic objects that when picked up or gazed into release the mind from the more mundane and automatic reactions we have to almost every object we pick up these days. Apart from being stunning decor, by placing crystals in the home and workspace my stones act as a constant reminder for me to stay mindful of my thoughts, intentions, and actions.
What do you believe is the most important change people should make if they want to be kinder to themselves
With the rise of technology, we are bombarded by screens and devices all day every day. As much as I love tech I also relish the opportunity to turn off and disconnect. Treat your brain like a muscle. Just as our bodies require rest so do our minds. Whatever that downtime means for you; whether it be yoga, meditation, going for a run or walk with your dog- be kind to yourself and do more of it.
Do you have a current mantra?
Fall in love with as many things as possible!
6 things that make you smile?
Sunny days, good food, good company, fresh air, and animals especially cats!
