Healthy living Ideas when work-life gets hectic

September 19, 2018

Nowadays more and more people are interested in becoming or remaining as healthy as possible. Despite this trend, there are many challenges in modern life that can stop us from doing so. One of the biggest problems is a lack of time. While lack of time to become healthy can be a challenge for everyone, it is often busy professionals who I hear this from the most. If you’re a young professional on the go and you want to ensure that you remain well, the following health tricks can help you:

1. Eat A Good Breakfast

One of the worst things an individual can do for his or her health is eat a bad breakfast (e.g., coffee & sugar). Work breakfast into your morning schedule and it will soon become routine. Whether you eat at home or take something to work and eat later in the morning, make sure it’s something whole food based and full of healthy fats and protein. Try hard boiled eggs, avocado toast, banana and full fat yoghurt or a protein smoothie.

2. HIIT Training

As many of us know, exercising consistently is very important to add to your daily routine if you want to stay healthy. If you’re a professional on the go and feel that you don’t have time try High-Intensity Interval Training. This form of activity combining strength and cardio can be done in 20 minutes and produce maximum health benefits.

3. Carry Healthy Snacks

For many of us when we become hungry we can get irritable, fatigued and loose concentration. Once this happens, we will no longer function at optimal levels. The best way to prevent this from happening is to keep healthy snacks like nuts and fruit in your bag or on your desk so you have something healthy to munch on when hunger strikes.

4. Keep A Water Bottle Close By

Staying hydrated in essential to keeping well. Thirst is one of the first signs of dehydration, so make sure you’re sipping on water continuously throughout the day. Water helps to flush toxins out of our system, can prevent us from overeating and helps to keep energy levels high.

5. Plan Ahead

The most common reason why people fail to stay healthy or fall off the health bandwagon is because of a lack of planning. All you need to do is devote a 10-15 minutes every weekend to making a plan for the week. This can involve anything from planning when you’ll go to the gym during the week, what you’ll need to buy at the grocery store or what type of healthy lunch you’re going to pack. Without a plan, you are likely to continue falling back into bad health habits.
