5 really easy steps to create work-life-balance on a Friday

As our lives become more hectic and the stresses of meeting the demands of work, on top of family and life commitments we can sometimes start to feel like a mindless lab rat running round and round the Ferris wheel.

Here are our really simple tips to help you leave work at work on a Friday.

1. Leave work on time

Make a conscious effort to leave work at an appropriate time, quick tip: If you need to; just set a reminder or three. We all know that by Friday afternoon our productivity level starts to fade so don’t waste time sitting there pondering what work you should be doing. Save it for Monday!

2. Write a list!

First thing Friday morning write a list of ALL things that are achievable by the end of the day. Put the most significant at the top of the list, and leave the rest until next week.

3. Book a dance or cardio class for 5:30 pm on a Friday

Head out the door early on a Friday, go straight to a class and sweat out all your work emotions – like Taylor says, “Shake it off, Shake it off”. The release of endorphins will leave you feeling giddy and excited for the weekend ahead. 

4. Go for a cheeky drink with friends (preferably not work friends- sorry)

Time to talk about other things, reconnect with your life away from the desk. We’re all guilty of thinking about work more than we should, when you leave on a Friday, leave it all behind including the work politics and gossip. 

5. Go to bed early Friday night

We know this sounds boring to some. But catching up on your Zz’s on a Friday night, will not only make you feel fresh Saturday morning, it gives the body and mind to recover from the common or not so common stresses of work. Go home, take a long shower, watch some Netflix then chill and go to sleep by 10 pm. You won’t know yourself on a Saturday! ( hello early morning yoga class)
